July 20, 2020

DivinaLaw celebrated two momentous occasions today, July 20, 2020—the blessing of the Firm’s newly renovated office and the online launch of Managing Partner and UST Faculty of Civil Law Dean Atty. Nilo T. Divina’s third book ‘’Questions & Answers on the Revised Corporation Code.’’

The affair kicked off with the Holy Mass celebrated by University of Sto. Tomas Rector Rev. Fr. Richard Ang and was followed by the office blessing. The book launch commenced right after the sumptuous lunch prepared by renowned chef and restaurateur Margarita Fores. Members of the UST Faculty of Civil Law, valued clients, members of the media, DivinaLaw lawyers and staff, and Dean Nilo’s family and friends all tuned in via live online streaming.

Distinguished guests present during the event are CentralBooks President Mr. Jose Paulo M. Sibal and OIC and Commissioner of the Legal Education Board Hon. Zenaida N. Elepaño, who said in her message that Dean Nilo’s book is ‘’…couched in clear, concise and non-intimidating language.’’

The donation of the book’s advance in royalties generously given by Dean Nilo to Dean Marisol Anenias, President of the Philippine Association of Law Schools and the ceremonial turnover of the book’s first copy to Fr. Richard were among the highlights of the gathering.

Addressing his onsite and online guests, Dean Nilo relayed the story of how the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuing lockdown gave him the time to write his third book. ‘’Rather than be consumed by the worrisome headlines, I channeled my energies into writing the book. I worked on it feverishly and passionately, in between work-from-home deadlines and online classes, with family meals, prayers and Netflix, while doing physical exercise, as only my breaks.’’ Dean Nilo shared that his goal is to make corporation law easy to understand, not only in theory but also in actual application.
